You are invited to bring water to symbolize the places you have been, activities you have undertaken, or just whatever is on your heart at this time. We will also have water available.

An Undefended Heart: Courage at the Edge of Not-Knowing, Oct 25

Courage is often imagined as force: clenched jaw, raised shield. The contemplative traditions point somewhere quieter. In Buddhist practice, courage is the willingness to sit with impermanence and uncertainty without flinching or fleeing. In the Christian mystics, from the Desert Mothers and Fathers to Julian of Norwich and the author of The Cloud of Unknowing, it is the trust to enter the dark and let go of what we think we know. Together they teach that bravery is less about conquering fear than about staying present with it, tender and unarmored. Drawing on both streams, this talk explores practices for meeting grief, change, and the unknown with an open hand and an open heart.
