Rev. Ron Ahnen is in his first year serving as half-time minister of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Chico. He leads worship two Sundays per month, facilitates small group discussion and spiritual practice groups, provides pastoral care support, and participates in the life of the fellowship both virtually and in person.

Ron graduated from Starr King School for the Ministry with his Masters of Divinity in 2025 and was ordained in May of 2026. He is currently semi-retired from his long-time position as Professor of Politics at Saint Mary’s College of California.

Ron identifies as a religious natural humanist, seeking to bridge the connections between how we directly experience that which is holy and sacred to us through various lenses of our inherited cultural, religious, and spiritual traditions. In his ministry, he seeks to inspire others to find truth and meaning in their individual lives, as well as search out ways to dismantle our collectively built systems of oppression, leading to love and liberation. A father of three adult children, he enjoys running, playing the piano, foreign languages, and working on both family and UU history.
