Spirit of Generosity

Spirit of Generosity is a phrase that describes when giving comes from joy, not obligation. This multigenerational service will replenish the fountain of joy and let the Spirit of Generosity flow through song, play, and service. Children are invited to stay and participate in the service; no separate Religious Education class will be provided. Childcare for those 4 and younger will be provided.

Surviving an Epidemic of Loneliness

Neuroscience confirms that human beings are hardwired for connection, yet the physical and social symptoms of isolation have created what is being called an epidemic of loneliness in America. The health consequences to this condition are equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes per day. As Valentine’s Day is around the corner, what can be done to increase the quality of human connection? We’ll celebrate how UUFC is already doing this work, and turn to our UU ancestor, Ralph Waldo Emerson, to gain additional insights on the gifts of presence.

As the myth of scarcity becomes more prominent and institutional violence continues to escalate, the importance of building resilient communities and strengthening networks of mutual support grows significantly.
Could our community be strengthened through meaningful relationships, sharing resources, and emotional and spiritual support for one another in times of need?
As our connections grow, we grow strong together, and this strength will serve us during the challenging times ahead.

What seven thoughts govern, shape, and determine my life? This is a question the Irish poet and author John O’Donohue recommends spending time with. Every day, we use thought, and thoughts shape the world we inhabit. Many of us keep the thoughts that we come back to repeatedly to make decisions as a secret, even from ourselves. What’s possible when we bring awareness to them like furniture in a room, that can be moved, or even eliminated?
