August 24th, 10:30am. Topic: “Butte County Local Food Network: Community Gardens and Food Security.”

 

This service will focus on the overarching topic of food insecurity and growing food locally by many home style gardeners and small farmers to promote local and sustainable food, mostly for the benefit of those who aren’t sure when they will have their next meal. The discussion will focus on how we define food insecurity, what are the local efforts to mitigate its impact on people’s lives, and why so much effort is needed. Our two guests will speak briefly on the nature of food insecurity in Chico and Butte County.
