If These Walls Could Talk: Art and Transformation
October 12th, 10:30am. Topic: “If these Walls Could Talk: Art and Transformation.” Service led by Reverend Stacy Craig.
Art can help us see the world differently, but sometimes, the story behind the art is as powerful as the pieces or productions themselves. Artist and social activist Ricardo Levins Morales compares art to the herbs of a healer. The herbs may raise or break a fever; they may lower it. At this service, we’ll explore the power of art in the public square to share messages of transformation.

Service of Remembrance
October 26th, 10:30am. Topic: “Service of Remembrance.” Service led by Reverend Stacy Craig.
Each year as the season shifts from summer to fall, it is believed that we enter a thin time, a liminal space, when those who have passed beyond the veil of death are closer. UUFC honors this time with a Service of Remembrance. This is something rare and a bit rebellious to mainstream culture—we talk about death and dying, share names of those we honor, and live fully into our grief together. This service recognizes the many cultural observances this time of year which acknowledge the thinned veil —All Souls Day, All Saints Day, Dia de Muertos, and Samhain to name a few.
If you choose, you can participate in this service by:
–bringing an item for the altar that reminds you of an ancestor or loved one who has died (you will take this home with you at the end of the service)
–sharing the names for those you would like to honor
These are invitations and not expectations for participation. Come, with whatever grief or loss you carry, to be blessed and be a blessing to others.
